Peg Perego Pliko P3

Aspects of the Peg Perego Pliko P3 Covered:

The Pliko P3 is one of the newest offerings from Peg Perego, baby industry veterans of over fifty years. They’re well known for their stylish and high-quality pushchairs, and the Pliko is no exception.

This fantastic pushchair offers parents and child a super-smooth ride, with lightweight convenience (at 8 kilograms), compact storage, and several innovative features designed to make your pushchair experience better. The Pliko P3 also looks the part, with a very cute yet sophisticated design. If you are able to meet the higher-level price range, this pushchair is definitely worth your consideration.

Child’s Comfort

One of the Pliko’s strong points is the super-smooth suspension, making the journey much easier for both parent and child. This is most effective on standard urban surfaces such as pathways and flooring; it is less well adapted for gravel and off-road ventures.

The seat is suitable for both babies and toddlers, and has four set recline positions ranging from sitting up to lying almost flat. The manufacturers say it goes completely flat, but there is still a bit of an angle there. It is of a generous design that allows plenty of space for growing young ones.

In terms of the comfort of the seat itself, I would say it’s perfect for toddlers but perhaps not soft enough for infants. The material used for padding and the harness is good quality and durable, but a little tough and abrasive for direct contact on a baby’s soft skin. Invest in a soft blanket or baby pouch to avoid any irritation this may cause.

The sun canopy is excellent, with the ability to extend right over the seat, offering complete shelter for your child. This is not suitable for rain, however, so you may want to consider the optional rain canopy as an extra.

Ease of Use & Maneuverability

As we have touched on with regards to the comfort of the child, the P3 is outstandingly smooth and easy to push. Steering is also highly responsive, as the dual wheels on each corner give optimum maneuverability. This is an aspect that parents will absolutely love, as moving the pushchair requires very little effort and can be easily done one-handed.

The turning circle is very tight, important for use in shops or small spaces. Weighing in at only 8kg, the Pliko is also easy to lift, impressive for a stroller that doesn’t compromise on functionality.

The handlebars are height adjustable, which helps prevent back strain for taller or shorter parents. They are nicely shaped and naturally positioned.

Collapsing the P3 can be a bit tricky at first, with the folding mechanism seeming a little stiff. It can supposedly be done one-handed but for most part this is a two-handed job. This gets easier as you adjust, however- as with most pushchairs, there is a knack to it. Once the chair is folded the frame locks into a compact storage position, standing upright so it is easily picked up and stays out of the dirt. Folding out is a breeze, as all that is needed is to hold the latches on both handlebars and push a foot-pedal with one foot.

The fabrics are removable and washable, and due care should be taken to ensure their long life. Hand washing may be preferable. There are cup holders incorporated in the design for both child and parent, which is great, although the latter could have been bigger; it will fit a small water bottle or soda can but nothing larger.

The storage basket is a good size, especially considering that this is quite a small pushchair. It can be difficult to access from behind depending on what recline position the seat is in, but you can alternatively reach through the sides or front.

You can attach many different brands of car seats to the Pliko P3, not just ones offered by the manufacturing company. Check before you buy if you already have a car seat or something specific in mind, but otherwise you should find it easy to find the right car seat for you and your child and attach it to the P3.

The toddler step on the back is a thoughtful and fun touch. When your child gets older and wants to get out of the chair they can stand on the sturdy non-slip step and ride from the back, looking over the hood. Alternatively, if you have a baby and an older child you can take them both for a ride at the same time, with one strapped into the seat and the older one on the back. Children are sure to love this.

Quality & Durability

The Pliko P3 is a high- quality and extremely durable pushchair that could easily withstand many years of use. The aluminum frame is solid despite the light weight, and the fabrics are durable and easy to keep clean. Bear in mind, though, that the materials are meant for hand washing only- you can put them in the machine, but it will age and even weaken them.

I have concerns for the longevity of the plastic parent cupholder, however, which is made of two rather flimsy plastic extensions off the handlebar frame. You wouldn’t want to knock it too hard or it might come right off. Of course, this is not an essential aspect of the pushchair, but most parents would certainly miss it!

Safety

The Pliko P3 has a nicely designed 5-point harness, which will do the job of keeping the passenger where they are supposed to be very well, although it seems to be cut more for toddlers than small infants. Parents may want to purchase some extra harness padding as the material is tough (good) and a little abrasive (bad).

The foot-operated brake is easy to use and very solid, holding firm even under testing on a steep incline. The frame is solid and will not collapse unless the double folding mechanism is activated.

Even the rear travelling step, which may seem like a hazard to cautious parents, is sturdy and well-designed. This is a fun extra feature that should not pose any real risk. The frame and weight distribution of the pushchair keep it in balance even with a toddler on the back.

All in all, this is a very safe and reliable pushchair. The good build quality means it will stay that way through years of everyday use.

Looks and Popularity

The Pliko P3 is a very stylish pushchair and comes in a great range of chic colours. This is not your average cutesy-looking design; the result is adorable yet sophisticated. You can easily choose a colour scheme that will look great for both girls and boys.

This range have been very popular, as are most products from Peg Perego, although the price may scare off some potential buyers.

Price Tag

The P3 is an investment item, costing far more than other available options but also giving you more. Its design is thoughtful and user-friendly, and the high quality gives owners years of good use. It is available cheaper online than in most stores, and can come much cheaper than usual if you are willing to take any leftover colours that are sometimes available at discount.

If you are in a position to splash out, or want a durable pushchair to give good cost-per wear value through multiple children, the Pliko P3 is a very good option.

Customer Service and Warranty

Peg Perego customer service is excellent, in keeping with their fifty-plus years of tradition. However, the pushchair warranty is dependent on where you buy it from; check before you check out. The standard is ninety days, a bit disappointing at this price range.

Summary and Conclusion

In summary, the Peg Perego Pliko P3 pushchair is as versatile as it is alliterative. The manufactures have managed to offer lightweight convenience, quality, durability, fun and good looks all in one chair. This is really a product that both you and your children can enjoy for many years to come, so to many it will be worth the higher price tag. This is certainly in the top of the range for lightweight folding pushchairs.
