Cosatto Swift Lite

Aspects of the Cosatto Swift Lite:

The Cosatto Swift Lite is a truly great pushchair available at a bargain price. Suitable from birth to fifteen kilos, it comes equipped and guaranteed to see you through those first few crucial years. This pushchair is an economical option for growing families who need something durable yet lightweight (weighing in at 6.75kg) for everyday use.

The handy umbrella folding mechanism means you can easily collapse and carry the whole pushchair for transport or compact storage. This makes the Swift Lite ideal for use on public transport, running errands, even family outings and travelling overseas. While not well suited to off-road usage, the Cosatto Swift Lite is a great and user-friendly all-rounder at a very reasonable price.

Child’s Comfort

The Swift Lite has three simple recline settings, ranging from a comfortable sitting-up position to lying almost completely flat. This will suit the needs of your child from birth to around three or four years old. The seat, while well padded and comfortable, is set at quite a shallow angle- perfect for younger children, but perhaps less ideal for the older (bigger!) ones who want to want to sit up and look around. Be sure to use the harness especially when in the upward position to ensure your passenger does not slide out!

The standard 5-point harness is solid and durable, although I would want to pad it a little for newborns as the material used could be softer. The bottom strap is also rather thick, so it may need to be adjusted or padded for smaller children so as to avoid digging into their inner legs. This is a decent harness that will do the job safely, but I feel it should have been produced more thoughtfully.

The Swift comes with a raincover included, which is great for use in bad weather and keeps the chair’s contents completely dry. The cover extends above the edge of the hood and well below the foot rest to make sure of this. It also has inbuilt air holes in the sides to ensure good breath-ability, a must for a journey of any length.

Ease of Use & Maneuverability

The pushchair comes easy to assemble; just fold it out, then attach the wheels and hood. One of the Swift Lite’s main selling points is obviously its lightweight frame and good maneuverability. Fortunately for users of the Swift, Cosatto really delivers in this aspect. The chair gives a good ride for both child and parent, light and easy to push with a smooth and responsive turn.

The brakes are foot-operated and very easy to use; the two wheels’ braking system is connected so the chair is stopped fast in one simple motion. The brake is effective and durable. Wheels can be locked straight or in swivel mode, for use in shopping centers or off the path.

Handles are of ergonomic, curved “comfort grip” design that at a standard 108cm tall should be no problem for parents of most heights. They are not adjustable, however, so very short or very tall parents may find this uncomfortable.

This chair can be collapsed one-handed (you need a foot as well!) umbrella-style into a compact, locked position for transport and easy storage. The shopping basket is quite small, just big enough for a bag and essentials. Some parents may find this disappointing, but given the Swift’s lightweight frame and size, I’d consider it quite an achievement to fit a shopping basket in at all!

Quality and Durability

For such a lightweight umbrella-folding chair, the Swift Lite’s solid, durable frame is impressive. This is the type of pushchair that can take the considerable strain of everyday use over a period of years. Hanging shopping bags on the handles, as many parents tend to do, is no problem. In this aspect the Swift is a very robust option.

One point of concern is the removable hood, which appears to be less-than-solidly attached to the pushchair chassis. It stays on fine during regular use, but a parent struggling with putting on the raincover in bad weather, for example, may find difficulties here. Keep an eye on this!

The Swift’s wheels are made of durable rubber, non-inflatable, which is a blessing for most parents as you will not have to struggle with constant punctures. Of course, this means good city suspension but not so good off-road. Buyers of the Swift will need to bear this in mind.

Safety

The Cosatto Swift Lite comes with all the standard safety features, including a standard 5-point harness to keep all passengers firmly inside the chair. Braking is foot-operated and effective. The chassis is solid, yet impressively still folds up to be very lightweight and compact.

Folding is a one-handed affair, but a lever must be released before the frame can be collapsed with a second lever. This will prevent any unintentional collapse of the chassis. Once folded, the chair has a safety fastener which must be released before the frame will unfold.

All in all, the Cosatto appears to be a very good, safe chair. It’s simple design leaves it lightweight and convenient without having to compromise on safety.

Optional Extras

There are currently no Cosatto Swift Lite accessories available. Also, this pushchair isn't designed to be compatible with any car seat or carrycot systems.

Looks and Popularity

The Cosatto Swift Lite is an attractive, simple pushchair that will make life much easier for busy families. It comes in three colour options, charcoal (with a funky coloured bubble pattern), blueberry (in very cute shades of blue and pink) and “Je Suis un Postar,” an urban pop-art design.

The Swift Lite has been very popular, regularly selling out in online stores. It is a nice, simple, angular design that will fit into a busy lifestyle and look good whilst doing it.

Price Tag

The Swift Lite is a low-cost option for parents looking for something simple, durable and convenient without breaking the bank. Prices range greatly depending on where you buy it from, but you should be able to find it for under a hundred pound. At this price, some parents may even be concerned that it’s even “too” cheap- if you think this pushchair will suit your needs, don’t fall into this trap. It really is a great chair. Check out the great manufacturer’s warranty below if you need some extra reassurance.

Customer Service and Warranty

The customer service and warranty is where the Cosatto stands out. They offer a FREE 4 year extended warranty on the Swift Lite when you register at their website within 28 days of purchase. This is on top of the standard 1-year retailer’s guarantee which is really a very good deal, beyond what many other brands will offer.

Further, Cosatto’s customer service is reliably good. Their staff are friendly and helpful, and any replacement parts usually come surprisingly fast. This is a company that can offer you some much-needed peace of mind!

Summary and Conclusion

All in all, the Cosatto Swift Lite is impressive, especially at such a reasonable price. It delivers what many pushchairs promise and fail to give; it is lightweight, durable, compact and convenient. Given the unusually long manufacturer’s warranty, you can also be confident that the Swift will continue to give excellent value for many years. This chair is not without its flaws, as we have discussed, but I believe it has ticked all the essential boxes. The Cosatto Swift Lite is not the best pushchair on the market, but it is perhaps the best choice for many busy families on a budget.
